Mike Mahoney, grew up in Southern California in the 1960’s and like so many of his peers he was involved in the folk rock scene. But Uncle Sam interrupted his college years with a tour in Vietnam. Once home he got married and became a successful entrepreneur far from the music scene. The changing music of the 60’s and what it has meant to our culture can still be heard in television commericals today. He carries the memory of those musical golden years to this day, and presented his vision of a classic song celebrating the music of his youth, the innocence and joy of the time.

Mike Mahoney
Dave Blackburn
Dave is an accomplished producer, recording engineer, trained arranger, educator and multi-instrumentalist, with multiple awards as a songwriter and two degrees in Literature. Growing up in the UK, and relocating to California in 1981, he was exposed to a broad range of music and became fascinated by records from earlier eras when the technology was more limited. Dave composed all the music to what would become We Were Golden, based on Mike’s vision, and the two of them wrote the lyrics based on imagery and recollections from Mike’s youth.
The Croome Brothers
Many of the classic harmony groups have been siblings, which achieves the uncanny blend that only close blood relations can. The quest to find a pair of brothers, who were both excellent vocalists and young enough to depict the youthful sound of the surf rock era, ended when Canadians Patch and Liam Croome, from the band Daring Greatly. Their sound captured the bloom of youth, the excitement of the time and place, and the romance of the period.
Travis Guilliams
Another contributor to the sound of Mikey’s in the Mustang is Travis Guilliams. Travis is a well known entertainer, recording artist and musician in Southern California. He is constantly touring and is known for his sweet sound as well as his songwriting. He was recruited to be part of the sound of the Soundtrack Album and future Mikey’s in the Mustang music.
